Material science and dental technology are making advances in all aspects of dentistry at an ever increasing pace. Various disciplines are becoming so sophisticated that it is impossible for a dental professional to be updated on all areas of dentistry. One of the largest problems in our profession today is not advancing the science of dentistry, but adequately utilizing the science that already exists. Today, every dental practitioner must have a thorough understanding of the roles of these various disciplines in producing the most desirable results, with the most conservative and biologically sound interdisciplinary treatment plan possible.
The society was founded in November 2007 with a basic motto of maximizing treatment results by optimally synergizing the knowledge, skills and experience of all the above disciplines, and to minimize the frustrating shortcomings typically associated while working as a team.
To treat patients by todays standards, various dental disciplines have to rely on one another. Open communication and proper coordination of treatment between the different specialties are two key and often overlooked factors while treating complex cases.
The Indian Society of Prosthodontics- Restorative Periodontics attempts to merge three distinct disciplines that deal with restoration of oral health: Prosthodontics, Restorative and periodontics on one platform. The society was founded in November 2007 with a basic motto of maximizing treatment results by optimally synergizing the knowledge, skills and experience of all the above disciplines, and to minimize the frustrating shortcomings typically associated while working as a team.
It had been a long cherished dream of the dental fraternity to have a common platform in our country for the three specialties in dentistry for better interaction, learning and understanding. This dream was made fruitful by forming an association called the Indian Society of Prosthodontics-Restorative-Periodontics (ISPRP).
As this forum grew in strength, the idea was to transform this forum into an association. With this in mind we sat formally with 28 members on 18th Feb, 2007 at Hotel Palkhi in Mangalore.
The first informal talk on forming a forum with these three specialties happened more than 2 years back in 2006. The ISPRP is an emerging Dental organization in India. It was founded by small group of Specialists who chose to collaborate with other specialists, dentists and dental team members to promote learning in a friendly, social and interdisciplinary environment. They would meet occasionally for professional meetings in a study group and ultimately felt that in order to provide quality comprehensive dentistry, it was important to interact with providers of all dental disciplines.

Thought-provoking advanced concepts in clinical dentistry to meet the needs and demands of a growing and constantly evolving profession.
Indian Society Of Prosthodontics-Restorative- Periodontics realizes that the best way to accomplish this would be to develop a program that would offer access to some of the best speakers and information available in continuing education, so that we could learn together and share experiences with one another on a regular basis. The Indian Society of Prosthodontics-Restorative- Periodontics gives its members the opportunity to share treatment philosophies and ideas, with the intention of contributing to our growing base of knowledge with an interdisciplinary approach to providing dental care.
As a TEAM, we can all be proud of our collective contribution to advancing the art and science of dentistry in India
