I am indeed very happy to know that the IDA Malabar Branch is launching the website for the Kerala State Dental Conference to be held in 2019. I am also happy that the COC has been formed with Dr. Dinesh as Chairman, Dr. Sudheer as Org.Secretary and Dr. Muhammad Sameer as Conference Secretary. This is an excellent team which I believe has already started the spade work to ensure smooth planning and execution of the conference next year.
This website will help all students and dental professionals to log on and discover the various scientific and trade programmes and keep updated of renowned speakers and topics so that they can plan well in advance. Dental traders & manufacturers will also benefit to check on updates and information and be a part of the event.
Social media has helped promote our activities to a great extent and launching a website a year ahead of the conference will give it a boost and allow enough time for participants to decide and plan their schedule.
I take this opportunity to wish IDA Malabar Branch all the best and hope that with this website you will be able to provide a broader outreach to members and trade to garner maximum registrations.

Dear colleagues
Our conferences are becoming mammoth events with huge delegate participation and mega trade exhibition. With the introduction of standardization procedure IDA-CAN, the marketing venture IDA-MARK and the IDA-HOPE with all these new schemes, will definitely attract more and more members to our fold and this in turn will add more delegates to our conferences. So in the future we should restrict our conference venues to cities only, where large convention centers and accommodation facilities are available. Conducting conferences in small towns is no longer feasible; at the same time small branches based in other towns shouldn’t be denied the opportunity to host the state conference. We have to work on it to find a solution for that issue.
I am very glad to note that you have started early and hope that this enthusiasm will continue throughout. The success of any event is based on the teamwork. Recently Google published a study on success in teams “In a team with high psychological safety, teammates feel safe to take risks around their team members. They feel confident that no one on the team will embarrass or punish anyone else for admitting a mistake, asking a question, or offering a new idea, In other words, great teams thrive on trust.” Hope you will remain a great team.
A conference can do wonders for a branch, it can make it more coherent or it can create fissures among the members if not careful. I wish you a very successful conference and I believe, the friendship and co-operation among the members will improve many fold to such a level, where you all become members of an extended family during and after the event.

As the Conference Secretary, it gives me immense pleasure to invite all my dear friends and fellow professionals to the 51st Kerala State Dental Conference, Milan '19, to be held at Kozhikode in January 2019. With the Conference theme, " Redefining Dentistry; Redefining Fellowship ", Milan '19, I'm sure would be a confluence of quality scientific deliberations and at the same time, an occasion to forge new relationships and strengthen old ones.
Kozhikode has a rich and varied history of culture, tradition and hospitality. This is the land of spices and flavours. From Halwas & chips to biriyani and kallummakais, this is a paradise for the foodies..
This is a land of debates and intellectual exchanges too. From Revathipattathanam to the Kerala Literature Festivals, this has always been a fertile soil for lofty thoughts and ideas. Doyens of literature, the likes of M.T, S.K and N.P, trod the streets of this city. This is also the coast which altered the course of history, not only of this country, but this part of the world as a whole.
Like this land, the host branch IDA Malabar has also a long history of proven leaders and a strong track record of organising many a big event successfully in the past. With such a background, I am indeed hopeful, Milan '19 would be creating another history by setting a benchmark in the way dental conferences are organised. May I, once again, extend a warm welcome to all to the 51st KSDC at Kozhikode and look forward to meet you all during the event.

I am certainly delighted to welcome all members of Indian Dental Association and their guests to Calicut for the 51st Kerala State Dental Conference, Milan '19, to be held on 18th, 19th, 20th Jan 2019.
Dentistry, especially in this part of the country is on the verge of a tipping point. Faced with a multitude of challenges, ranging from the growing number of graduates and their lack of opportunities on one end to the escalating material costs and inflation that has resulted in a sharp increase in the expenses of running a dental clinic at the other end, times are difficult for the average dental practitioner, both junior and senior alike. Add to that are the new regulations brought in by governmental agencies like PCB, AERB, Labour dept etc and also the entry of corporates into the dental practice arena which has again ushered in a lot of unhealthy and unethical trends to this sector. But notwithstanding all this, as is said, " In the midst of every crisis lies an equivalent opportunity ", if we sit and explore the possibilities together with a positive frame of mind, we are sure to come with a way forward, out of all this.
Milan '19, the 51st Kerala State Dental Conference provides the ideal venue to do that.
Milan is 'the meeting. Milan '19 would be the meeting point of not only the minds and hearts of the dental fraternity, but a meeting point of new ideas, ventures and business opportunities as well. And the city of Calicut provides the ideal setting for all this to happen. This land has always been a meeting point of traditions and cultures from the past and has a legendary reputation for it's hospitality, welcoming traders and travellers to its coast since time immemorial.
Today it's also the food capital of the state with an array of ethnic and exotic delicacies and together with all those places of interest in and around the city, it's a must see destination in the global traveller's list.
IDA Malabar branch, the hosts of the 51st KSDC, is one of the largest branches in the country and has also been one of the best in terms of the quality of activities that's been organised.
The organising committee of Milan '19 was chosen by the executive committee of IDA Malabar branch and we are proud and privileged to welcome all our friends in the fraternity, to this historical city of the Zamorins.
Let us also give you this word of honour that we would leave no stone unturned to make sure that this State Conference at Calicut would be a memorable one.

Greetings from the organising committee of MILAN '19, the 51st ida kera la state dental conference
With great pleasure, we welcome all of you to Kozhikode for the prestigious conference event of India to be held here on 18th to 20th of jan2019.
I consider myself blessed to be the organising secretary of MILAN 19. Though the task is herculean, I am confident of achieving the best with the support of everenthusiastic coc members, ida malabar members and all other ida mates through out Kerala.
A stimulating series of scientific sessions, enlightening keynote addresses, preconference courses, a theme banquet,these all will explore our theme "redefining dentistry, redefining fellowship' and will surely be a treat for a delegate, particularly in the age that witnesses drastic changes in dentistry.
I promise, on behalf of organising committee MILAN'19 would set a landmark in conferences, to remember both in terms of participation and grandeur.
